i-70 Wildlife Watch

ECO-resolutions brings its expertise to assessing the impacts of human activities on wildlife, terrestrial habitats, wetlands, watersheds and other natural resources. We offer specialized guidance for the protection and restoration of landscape-level habitat connectivity. Understanding connectivity needs for wildlife is particularly important in the face of increasing development, recreational activity, and energy development (renewable and traditional), and adaptation to natural range shifts in response to long-term environmental transitions, such as global climate change Through a collaborative approach and comprehensive ecosystem evaluations, we can help you site and design your projects to minimize and mitigate ecological impacts from the outset, thereby streamlining permitting, and preventing costly delays.

PAST AND CURRENT PROJECTS
Linking Colorado’s Landscapes – Statewide Connectivity Assessment
The Linking Colorado’s Landscapes project was initiated by the Southern Rockies Ecosystem Project to identify, prioritize, and develop recommendations for improving highway permeability for wildlife movement across Colorado. This initiative was a collaborative scientific effort with the Federal Highways Administration, the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State University and The Nature Conservancy. This project identified and prioritized nearly 200 wildlife linkages, thereby providing transportation planners, state and federal agencies, community leaders, engineers, and conservationists with a statewide vision for restoring habitat connectivity vital for maintaining healthy populations of native species. The project was designated a 2006 FHWA Exemplary Ecosystem Initiative.
Project Timeframe: 2003 – 2005
